Salary Range: $58,349.50 – $92,803.00

THE POSITION
The Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) has an exciting opportunity for a talented transportation professional to join our team as a Transportation Planner. The MPO is looking for a broad range of professional skills and abilities to complement our existing staff and may hire one or more candidates to ensure organizational needs are met. The core responsibilities may include one or more of the following areas: multimodal transportation planning; city planning; complete streets planning; project management; or grant programs. The Transportation Planner may work in close coordination with municipalities, Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), and others to plan, prioritize, fund, and administer transportation projects that are technically sound and supported locally, at both elected and public levels. This position supports other MPO team members, prepares reports, delivers presentations, and manages complex transportation planning projects and programs in a fast-paced and evolving environment. The position may require project management skills for in-house staff and consultants.
THE CANDIDATE
We are looking for one or more outstanding candidates with an interest and significant experience in one or more ofthe professional areas noted above. The ideal candidate is an experienced professional with a varied background in transportation planning with varied technical knowledge and experience at the local, regional, state, or federal levels along with strong communication skills and experience coordinating with community interests and other governmental agencies. The successful candidate will have broad experience and understanding of the full range of requirements to deliver a complete project from planning, prioritization, funding, design and ultimately construction. The candidate should have mapping (ArcGIS & StoryMap), graphic design (Adobe InDesign), and project management experience. This person has a desire to grow their career with a progressive goal-oriented organization focused on expanding multimodal transportation options for the public. The successful candidate will have strong collaborative and problem-solving skills and enjoy working with multiple partners to build consensus, communicate and identify technically feasible solutions that are acceptable to the public and elected officials. This person should enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, often as part of a team. Candidates should have strong written and verbal communication skills.
The successful candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in Planning, Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Public Administration or a related field plus two (2) years of progressive responsible experience in project management, planning, engineering or related work. A master’s degree may substitute for one (1) year of required experience. Candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job should apply. AICP is preferred.
