The Southern New Hampshire Planning Commission (SNHPC) is seeking to fill either an Associate Planner or Regional Planner position.
Based in the Manchester, NH region, SNHPC assists its 14 communities with a variety of land use planning activities. Qualifications:
• Associate Planner: Degree in planning or related field, supplemented by one or two years of professional experience. Master’s degree can substitute for a portion of professional experience.
• Regional Planner: Degree in planning or related field, supplemented by three to five years of professional experience. Master’s degree can substitute for a portion of professional experience.
The successful candidate should be confident, well-rounded, and a communicative individual to complement our professional planning staff. The Commission is looking for a person who has a good understanding of planning principles and practices, can successfully conduct research and analytics, be able to multi-task, skilled in writing and presenting materials, creating and conducting education and outreach programs, have a familiarity with common office computer applications, and an ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
The Planner will work with the Commission’s staff, municipalities, local and state agencies on a variety of land use programs and initiatives. The emphasis is that the successful candidate will have a well-rounded background and interest in a variety of land use areas including community assistance to develop hazard mitigation plans, master plans, housing initiatives, economic development strategies, transportation outreach and assistance with many other initiatives.
